The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion ist eine Rockband bestehend aus Jon Spencer
(Gesang, Gitarre, Theramin), Judah Bauer (Gitarre) und Russell Simins
(Schlagzeug). Sie wurde 1990 in New York City gegründet.Ihre Musik
verbindet Elemente aus Rock'n'Roll, Blues, Soul, Rockabilly und Hip-Hop
mit gelegentlichen Einwürfen eines Theremin-Solos.
Zwischen 1993 und 2004 stand die Gruppe bei Matador Records unter Vertrag.
Drei der dort aufgenommenen Alben erreichten die Billboard Charts, und zwar
Now I Got Worry (1996, Platz 121), Acme (1998, Platz 180) und Plastic Fang
(2002, Platz 196).
Seit 2004 nennen sie sich nur mehr "Blues Explosion".
